The Face of Boe hexadecimal
People who work with hexadecimal will come up with some very interesting error codes and my favorite, which was also used by others is 0xdeadbeef, but it occurred to me that the Doctor Who science fiction fantasy character ,Face Of Boe, could be represented in hex as a flag if you are using a 64bit machine. the 0xface0fb0e.
I wish somebody would come up with a standard that everyone could accept to represent the difference between O and 0 and o in all fonts. Ø Ø
Another very interesting hex is 0x5f375a86. But if you read xkcd mouseover text, you already know that.
I thought of another and it was 0xfece5 and I thought it was new, but I decided to Google and this showed up in Mozilla. It also shows up as a name on 4chan, is that a surprise?
// Build an x86 JMP instruction to jump to the desired function, // and replace the TVector glue with it. Opcode 0xe9 is a // jump relative to the next instruction. Total instruction length // is 5 bytes (in 32-bit operand-size mode). If base is address // 0xfece5 and the target function is at address 0xc0ffee, then // the instruction placed at base, byte for byte, should be: // 0xfece5: 0xe9 0x04 0x13 0xb1 0x00: jmp 0xc0ffee
This code looks a bit scary and I think I will look deeper into where it applies. Modifying assembly code seems very hackish and If I see a NOP slide there, I am looking deeper. I looked and it is a WHITE hack to deal with some sloppy proprietary closed source code. No surprise there.

Moses Code
I. Program shalt not cause SIGSEGV to happen in another program. II. Program shalt not use memory allocated to another process. III. Program shalt not return wrong values for variables. IV. Program shalt not have any Signal preclude SIGSEGV. V. Program shalt not malloc without corresponding free. VI. Program shalt not use an uninitialized variable. All programs that fail to hold these commandments will be made NULL.
And other numbers like 31:13-18. I doubt that would be considered steganographic. Perhaps it is just a not too subtle twist of words. I think that the lowest order bit of the background color of a section of a blog XML I saw, changed every hour at 10 minutes after the hour UCT , in a sequence that was 7N1 ASCII. The baud rate is low, about 21 bits per day, but it is fairly reliable communication. I suppose there about 10100 ways to hide things over time, but I am sure some government agency will eventually be funded to investigate them all. After funding the project for 10 billion years, a despotic bureaucrat in that year will determine that someone they dislike is guilty of an extremely complex steganographic terror attack and is to be hanged. It is then that the agency sees their future as labeling people that the state wishes to dispose of, as stegno-terrorists.
Oh please, thrash on you despotic maniacs, the radiation from the chaos you generate is like a warm fire and consumes you as well as your associates. I doubt the fire will ever burn out, but I think I shall avoid sticking my hand in that fire.
Topless Dominatrix
Toeplitz domain Matrix, guess I heard that wrong.
foo(k)
An odd joke I thought of is if Fu was used in calculus to define a function and the letter k were used instead of x commonly, all functions would be of the form Fu(k).

Hash for my sql squirrel
I bought all the copy rights from the Isaac Newtown estate and when copyrights are extended to 500 years I am going to make a fortune. Oh wait a minute, that says Isaac Newtown not Newton , DOH!
Decision trees, hashes, computability and AI as they relate to the other topics is what I am mixing in now. To me it is much like thinking soup, a little thermodynamics, a slice of deterministic processing, some hash functions, linked lists, decision trees and a dash of silliness. It is late and I have just read 200 pages on the history of symbolic logic and I will probably dream of a trio of automated Golem playing Jeopardy in powdered wigs and an IBM logo branded into their necks. Crowds of old 386 PCs cheer them on and chat with each other about how they are the now the most powerful nation on the Earth as drones circle and pick off anything biological that might wander near.
I wish the symbology of math and logic was a bit more consistent and standardized. You can have things that can be written and read several ways, like f'(x) : d/dx f(x) : dx2 implies (dx)2. I would rather use δ or Δ myself. I can almost read the tableaux at the top of the page, but I am having trouble keeping the symbols straight, when they are used in such a multitude of forms and such cavalier disregard for uniqueness mostly, and occasionally consistency. I think the problem is that few wander farther than their specialty and so it seems very consistent and unique to them.
New TV show on CBS called 'DUMB3RS'
It was determined that Nazi Germany won World War II, and it must some how be corrected, with super-model agents. A crack DoD scientist computed that when the allies took land from the Germans that from the German perspective is was a loss of square miles. As an example: 4 square miles was taken in the Rhine and this was -4 sq. mi. to the Germans. If you determine the area of that, it is sqrt(-4) or 2*sqrt(-1) on a side. This means that it was just an imaginary loss since it is the product of an imaginary number.
Super models are sent into the imaginary dimension to recapture the lost ground as mad imaginary Nazi scientists laugh hysterically. It is scientifically determined that normal clothes will not survive the transition between normal space and the imaginary dimension and super-models must wear only bra and panties to travel back and forth.
The reason that the Nazis do not come back from the imaginary dimension is because of modesty, however they develop an SS ( secret supermodel) genetics program and send Nazi twin super-models into normal space.

Fossil of Steganosaurus found
The fossil of a Steganosaurus was discovered, or more correctly, not discovered on a Google blog. The sedimentary layers of posts had pressed it flat between the a demarcation boundary that implies that the age of the Steganosaurus ended abruptly, due, most likely, to the impact of a blog destroying extraterrestrial comment whose impact flamed it into nothingness.
Interview with a vampire physicist
Just a little joke that seems to fit with new discoveries of voids in the 3D images of the universe.
I asked a physicist what happened 14 billion years ago and he said,
" First there was nothing and then the universe sprung a leak and at 10 -456.287 seconds into the creation of the universe it had a goth moment and decided to get a tatoo of Natalie Hershlag on its ankle. It then twisted into 200 dimensions and then collapsed into 21 dimensions and the rest is easy.
I then asked how many sun spots will there be tomorrow , and he said,
"That is silly, it is far too complex to predict that far in time. Have you never heard of the butterfly effect?, you idiot."
I would ask somebody to go back 14 billion years and get some pics to prove it, but that would spoil all the fun.
On a separate note, I wonder who is watching the store while the entire power of the US government is focused on finding the origin of the image of a strange gluttonous weasel. To some extent, you can predict the action of a system by the parts that are incorporated. Perhaps the weasel is visiting the candy shop while all the gingerbread men are trolling for power.

End cartoon violence
I have reported on cartoon violence on this blog here and here. I have an update on the stick figure assault. It appears that the DoD has gotten involved and they have sophisticated facial recognition software that they are applying to the live stick figure video. They say that they have 3 points of similarity to a famous stick figure terrorist "Achmed Al Ben StickMal". Apparently xkcd stick figures had nothing to do with the attack. I know this will prompt conspiracy theories because of their association to the "Linux Mafia" and the "Army of LOLCats".
I plead that all bits should live in peace. Whether you are a zero or a one, we cannot have digital data unless the bits work together and though zero has some negative connotations, I hope that the ones do not get too complacent because they are a simple inverter away from zero.

Tragic net comic accident
In a horrible incident of art imitating life, a stick character from xkcd attacked another innocent stick figure and in a bizarre twist, inked a backward "x" on the other stick figure. Scientists at DARPA, NASA and NSF have used the most advanced super computer in the world to simulate the rotation of "x" through 180 degrees in the horizontal and vertical and a spokesman for DARPA said, and I quote, "It is highly unlikely that an x could be rotated in this way and be distinguishable from x". The stick figure said she was reading a cartoon in New Yorker magazine and that may have provoked the attack.
CSI ( Comic Sanity Investigators) said that there were pixels everywhere and that it looked like a hate crime. They have seen a lot of black pixel on white background incidents like this lately.
The new grave robbers
It isn't hard for me to see how things get convoluted in a society that prizes gold and power above all other things. So I see that it will not be long before people are digging up corpses and removing their teeth to get DNA and stealing the DNA of politicians and movie stars then selling the information to tabloids. The new DNA paparaci. I can infer what genes are possible and how many SNPs from a parents DNA and to be realistic, if you drop your DNA everywhere, isn't it public information and am I asked to avert my technological eyes because a new technology allows me to see through your skin and into your very nature? I see the headlines " Actress X has Y chromosome!"
Mind control mutation
I am not sure how it happened but I have developed mind control and I can think things and make my fingers type it on the keyboard. It isn't prefect yet but I think it is some kind of inante ability that has remained dormant in my body since birth.

Duck files copyright complaint
One of the ducks that fly over the farm has filed a lawsuit against the County Fair and its duck calling contestants. I have to agree that the duck has prior art in this case and his disability ( a form of speech problem ) made it impossible to file a copyright for himself and so I filed it for him. I think that $1,200 for each violation is a reasonable charge and due to the duck's disability situation I am acting with power of attorney for the duck. I think it is horrible and inhumane to use a creature's disability to attempt to get away with stealing their songs.

Days of the future gone by
It was the best of times, It was the worst of rhymes.
I see that my idea of Taser proof clothing is actually an old idea that has already gone to patent, otherwise I would have thought that somebody was reading my blog. I still want to see anti-handcuffs patented.
The problem with the idea:
Making something that neutralizes the force that is applied to an individual to control them.
Leads to greater force.
It implies that any amount of force will be applied to subdue others, independently of whether they are guilty of something or whether the force is more destructive than the act for which it is applied.
SWAT team alpha, "Jay walker at 10 O'clock low", SWAT team leader "She may be wearing body armor and anti-taser and anti-handcuff and carrying a IED" SWAT team alpha " I'll take the head shot with a depleted Uranium round, just to make sure the perp can be subdued." SWAT team alpha "It's a 17 year old girl so she could remove her clothes and be a distributor of child porn." SWAT team leader "The new Muslim laws state that uncovering one eye with make up is enough to imply sexual content so she is already guilty of a major felony by 'making available' child porn."

XML again
I almost have a handle on all of this stuff now. What a lot of stuff! I grasp the big picture and hopefully I can integrate the whole thing in such a way that it is scrutable by others. Once again into the fray today with voice XML, XPM, SVG. and my new idea of ndSVG with ndXML and their relationship to HOX ( Homeobox) genes and genotype to phenotype development.
SVG is neat but it would be nice to have a 3D SVG like system that could represent information and it is possible that folding@home is the base source to use for that. This is about the longest time I have ever been in the pre-grok confusion and that means I man going to have a big revelation or I have just lost the ability to integrate concepts as divergent and complex as this.
Spatial stegnography [ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ]. I wonder if it is illegal to encrypt something and then forget the key?
Some science is like a favorite childhood story. It may be wrong, but people enjoy believing it and reading it over and over.
