The image is another example of x being used in a way that means something completely different. In this case it is the genetic "cross" of gene pairs, and don't even think about vector cross products. The rest of the image is using fluorescent markers to locate parts of a gene during meiosis.
I did some calculations and it seems to me that the inside of a black hole would be just like being in the universe. It would look distorted and in some way it seems that there would be some holes in the hole. Now that has to be more confusing than √-1.
