Jedi suggested reading

This article at Boing Boing references a book about magic and mental deception. The mind is not a computer and it seems to be doing the processing of a lot of information, but it only processes in one way and it is in a way a sitting duck, since we can't change our own code without some serious mental effort. If a person does not protect themselves from viral ideas, they become prey to it and though it has been done forever ( the Pharaoh had a media advisor for public sacrifices ) the art of avoiding mental misdirection is fairly new.
