The quality of non-existent software and science could be rated in categories like vapor ware, announce ware, projection ware, intention ware... Where does ask ware fit? Can we have lithography in negative numbers? Harvard scientist says yes! Are genes associated with the structure of the cell? Scientists at Holy Trinity grade school say yes!
I think it is called meddling when you make changes without any clear idea of the consequences. Meddling in a machine that is the basis of life is probably the surest way to get some unexpected consequences. Passing laws that upset more than 70% of the population is another.
