I watched a video by Andrew Price at Blender Guru and that was very well made and extremely informative. While watching, I was thinking about Google street view, OpenGL, astronomy, automatic city builder, Python and gimp scripting. It is possible to combine all these things to automate the extraction of elements of images and data files to get 3D files for games and analysis. It is obvious that eventually all these techniques can be integrated to allow information flow from the various sources.
It represents another level of integration that produces some new insights to the information.
