I have made my first debian package and tested it. Here is a link to a generic walk through. It really isn't that difficult to do as the command is just
dpkg -b DirectoryOfPackage/ nameofpackage.deb
and
DirectoryOfPackage/DEBIAN/control must exist and contain the formatted necessary information
There is quite a bit to know to understand the concepts involved with dependencies and such, but by the time you have made a complete complex program, these things must be understood.
This is so cool, I think I will package all my different experiments in programming into .deb packages and install and uninstall them at will on all my machines. Great fun!
