This link at Wired is a detailed report of the collision of a Russian satellite and Iridium satellite that is sending debris that could cascade to a system collapse. It is after all chaos and nobody really knows either way. Talk about the 3 body problem! Look at the picture of the satellite locations at the link and tell me that is not an accident waiting to happen. I considered that the most recent meteor shower could have been the initiating collision that cascaded, but it didn't happen. I don't predict catastrophe from this event, it is just like many things that are too complex to predict, it holds the potential for a day of "steel rain" and billions of dollars of lost hardware.
