I decided to do some analysis of this effect to determine if there was a deeper fact to be deduced from its meaning. It does seem counterintuitive, but that only means that sliced time ballistic logic does not have a solution. There is something very effective and dangerous there and that is just a projection along the axis of its effect into unknown and unknowable space. I don't go there, but I have a dog that can hunt there. I suppose I will start with Wikipedia on Parrondo's Paradox. Feynman "fine man"?
